This weekend is for Friends who want to deepen their
Quaker experience by discovering what it means to ‘wait in the
Light’.
Date:
10-12 July
With:
with Rex & Catherine Ambler, and Helen Meads
Description:
Our faith as Quakers is based on experience, rather
than on authority or doctrine. But what
is
the experience? We shall consider first what the
experience was
at the beginning of our movement. We shall then undertake an
experiment to see if that experience is still available to us.
Finally, we shall reflect on the significance of the
Light for our lives today. This can be a searching and powerful
experience. Participants should gain a deeper understanding of the
Quaker experience, but also a surprising new insight into
themselves.
Rex Ambler has travelled widely among Friends giving
talks & workshops on Quaker faith & practice. He has also written
books on George Fox & Quaker spirituality.

A weekend to reflect on our lives
and be guided through a gentle process of self examination
Date:
2-4 October
With:
With Alex Wildwood
Description:
Today
many people describe themselves as ‘spiritual but not religious’.
But what does ‘spirituality’ mean to us? What helps us live more
authentically and joyously, more deeply in relationship to others
and our world, listening to ‘that of God’ within? This is a chance
to reflect on our spiritual journeys together and be guided through
a gentle process of self-examination. In a supportive environment we
will examine what helps or hinders us as we attempt to live more
faithful lives.
Alex Wildwood is a Quaker author, educator, and retreats organiser
who has been guiding groups for over two decades. He trained as a
body-based psychotherapist and in explorations of our ‘deep ecology’
with Buddhist scholar and activist Joanna Macy. He gave the 1999
Swarthmore lecture and for the past eight years has been exploring
the spiritual diversity of British Friends.
A mixture of working in the grounds and buildings at
the Hall and spiritual exploring in the group. A comfortable and
supportive "community" grows over the week for sharing and mutual
support. The atmosphere at the Hall lends itself so well to this
work.
A weekend for those enquiring about Quakers and
Quakerism.
Date:
6-8 November
With:
A team from the Quaker Life Outreach
Network
Description:
The gathering is informal & friendly. Topics covered
include basic convictions, the form of worship, and the testimonies
that spring from them. Two or three facilitators will be present to
talk about their own experiences in their spiritual journeys and how
they became Quakers
