By Road:

A590 from M6, dual carriage for 3 miles; Turn off left , signed Barrow and Ulverston;
Down to roundabout, stay on A590 (Turn left); Along A590 for 20+miles; Arrive at Ulverston;
Past Booths supermarket on left; Over Pelican crossing, over roundabout and another Pelican crossing;
Through 1st set of main traffic lights;
Left at 2nd set main traffic lights, signposted to railway station and Swarthmoor Hall (this sign is low down and easily obscured by other traffic);
small school on right and big school on left, down dip over bridge, up the hill and just before the top of the hill turn right onto Urswick Road, there is a Swarthmoor Hall sign here;
3nd right into Swarthmoor Hall Lane; Round sharp left hand bend; 1st right under arch into courtyard.

By Train:

Main line (West Coast) to Preston or Lancaster if from North or South;
Cross-country from East to Carnforth or Lancaster;
…either a local service or the Manchester Airport service from above stations to Ulverston. final destination of the train is usually Barrow-In-Furness.

To walk from the station. Turn left out of Ulverston station and up station approach;
Right at main road and along it to just before small primary school;
Footpath signed to Swarthmoor Hall across fields…about 1/2 mile - wet and muddy in winter.
