Quaker folk song concert

Quaker Songs: Free concert of ballads at the Barn Cafe on Wednesday, 5th October at 7pm in the Conference Room.

Thursday, 6th October, from Noon at the Barn Cafe - part of Quaker Week

A performance of new, modern folk ballads about Quakers and their tradition.
“These excellent songs tell the Quaker story with wit, warmth and simplicity. They are a wonderful and engaging way of sharing some of the insights and experiences of Quakers through history to the present day”  Alistair Fuller, Head of Outreach, Quakers in Britain.
Written and performed by Quaker folk singer/songwriter Eden Thomas.

Birthday party for the Barn Cafe!

The Barn Café at Swarthmoor Hall is about to turn one year old. Birthdays deserve parties, and indeed a party is planned! All are welcome to come to the Barn Café at 10am on Friday, 8 July, to enjoy a bit of birthday cake and celebrate the café's birthday.

George Fox's chair comes 'home'

Swarthmoor Hall staff were happy to receive a chair known as 'George Fox's chair' from Exeter Meeting. It is a 17th-century chair which was said to have served as a seat for George Fox when he visited Membury Meeting in 1677 (Membury is on the Devon/Dorset border). The chair was later brought to Exeter, from whence Friends gave it to Swarthmoor.

Pilgrimages at Swarthmoor Hall

Pilgrimage! This week, a group of Quakers are exploring the '1652 Country' around Swarthmoor Hall. They will climb Pendle Hill in the 'footsteps' of George Fox, visit historic Meeting Houses, and even see the landscape around Margaret Fell's childhood home of Marsh Grange.
