George Fox's chair comes 'home'
Swarthmoor Hall staff were happy to receive a chair known as 'George Fox's chair' from Exeter Meeting. It is a 17th-century chair which was said to have served as a seat for George Fox when he visited Membury Meeting in 1677 (Membury is on the Devon/Dorset border). The chair was later brought to Exeter, from whence Friends gave it to Swarthmoor.
On the way, the Friends and the chair visited Fenny Drayton, where George Fox was born.
