The 1652 Committee of Quaker Life exists to help Quakers in Britain and around the world to find out more about early Quaker History. It helps you visit the places that were important in the foundation of the Religious Society of Friends. Swarthmoor Hall played a key part in the first 40 years from the time when Margaret Fell was convinced by George Fox in June 1652.

Swarthmoor Hall is an essential part of any present day journey that usually includes Pendle Hill, Brigflatts and Firbank Fell, Preston Patrick, Sunbrick burial ground, and the Quaker Tapestry at Kendal.

Quaker Tapestry at KendalAt least half a day should be allowed at Swarthmoor Hall if a pilgrimage is going to be based elsewhere and pilgrimage organisers are asked to arrange this in advance with the staff.

However, smaller residential groups, from 5-16 people, can be accommodated at Swarthmoor Hall. Groups can stay on a self-catering basis, or can be fully catered, using the Hall caterer.
